MEMPHIS FAMILY TO OPEN TWO ACE HARDWARE STORES
MEMPHIS—The Dempsey family, owners of Stewart Brothers Hardware stores in Midtown, Tenn. and Bartlett, Tenn., will open the first of two Ace Hardware stores at 1740 N. Germantown in Cordova on Wednesday, according to The Commercial Appeal.
A second store is scheduled to open in East Memphis in April and ownership of the new stores is split among Chris, his brother Ed Dempsey, his sisters Alicia Dempsey and Shawn Knight, and their parents, James and Marilyn Dempsey. The Dempsey family is no stranger to retailing, as James started working at Stewart Brothers in the 1960s. Feb. 12 will be the 48th anniversary of the Stewart Brothers purchase.
